We have two new job opportunities here at The Florrie. 

We are looking for a part-time GARDENER to help look after our new community garden & a BUILDING MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR to look after our wonderful grade II listed building.

 Gardener (Part Time)

Hours: minimum of 10hrs per week – this is a seasonal contract and hours may increase during summer months and according to business need.

Salary: £10 per hour

Can you help us grown and develop our patio garden and our new community garden currently under construction? If you have a real passion for garden maintenance and horticulture then we have an amazing garden for you to work in. We are looking for a gardener who can work independently as well as working with volunteers in our community garden.

The role will involve physical work in all weathers. Duties and responsibilities may include:
· Mowing
· Strimming
· Planting
· Mulching
· Weeding
· Soft Landscaping
· Pruning
· Watering
· Hedge cutting
· Leaf blowing
· Litter picking

A full clean driving license, horticultural based qualification and experience in the trade would all be preferential.

Building Maintenance Supervisor

Salary:  £16,000 pa 

This is a temporary post for 12 months. Continuation is subject to satisfactory performance and further funding secured beyond the12 month contract.

Hours: 30hrs per week – core hours are between 8am-6pm. Hours may be subject to weekly changes according to business need. 

The successful post holder will have overall responsibility for the day to day general maintenance, conservation and preservation of the Grade II listed building and ensure the charity is compliant with relevant legislative requirements, internal policies and procedures for safeguarding and health and safety of the building and its users. 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Carrying out daily/weekly inspections of the facilities to identify and resolve maintenance issues
  2. Carry out general maintenance repairs 
  3. Develop, plan and oversee an ongoing proactive and reactive maintenance and preservation plan for the building 
  4. Be the first point of contact and carry out minor repairs, allocate workload and supervise specialist contractors when required
  5. As the maintenance team grows, you will have responsibility for allocating workload
  6. Ensure the safe day to day running of the building by being the first point of contact for all safeguarding and health and safety compliance.
  7. Ensure all public areas are kept clean and safe of any hazards, including carpark and outside patio/garden area.
  8. In relation to the building compliance, complete all relevant checks, maintenance logs and paperwork, e.g., fire drill tests and alarms.
  9. Manage recording systems in relation to all health and safety policies and procedures and ensure they are put into practice throughout our day to day work and activities 
  10. Central point of contact for internal and external individuals and agencies related to safeguarding and health and safety 
  11. Be a key holder for the building, including on emergency call
  12. Any other duties and training as required and in accordance with the post 
  13. A full clean driving licence is an essential requirement for this  post
 

Skills and Experience

  • H&S practices and experience
  • Proven experience of building management in relation to repairs and maintenance
  • Understanding and experience of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, painting and general repair work. 
  • Solid understanding of working within a Grade II listed building and the restrictions upon it.
  • Administration and systems (records) management skills 
  • Experience of working within the legislative requirements of health and safety practices
  • Working knowledge of facilities machines and equipment
  • Ability to keep track of and report on activity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding organisation skills
