This September, to celebrate The Florrie’s 135th birthday, we are planning a huge reunion party for everyone who has had a connection to The Dingle over the past century.
WE NEED YOUR MEMORIES: As part of the celebration, we are creating a new short film & exhibition celebrating the history of The Dingle. But to make this happen, we need you to join in & share your stories & memories with us.
• Did you or do you still live or work in The Dingle?
• Did you go to school here?
• Did you play for a local football team?
• Do you or your family members have stories, photos, artefacts, or home movies of your life in Dingle that you’d love to share?
• Maybe you’ve moved abroad & still fondly remember your upbringing as a Dingle-ite?
This is a celebration of our amazing area for people of all ages with any connection to The Dingle. We want to highlight & preserve the real lives of our community, from the seemingly mundane to the extraordinary stories hidden within.
Tony Caveney, fundraiser at The Florrie & Life long Dingle-ite said: “Dingle means so much to so many. I can trace my family history in The Dingle back over three generations. At 54, I’m still here, and like many others, I hold a deep love for our area and feel a strong sense of protection over it. What better opportunity than now to preserve our history for future generations? We’re reaching out to both current Dingle residents and ex-pats, asking you to share your memorabilia and memories from Dingle’s past for this exhibition. This will be truly remarkable. As The Florrie celebrates its birthday, we’d be honoured to celebrate it alongside you, the people of Dingle.”
If you have any photos, videos, items, or stories that you think fit the bill and would be happy for us to display, please get in touch. Contact us on info@theflorrie.org
